
Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that have become a bit too commercialized I think. I like to keep this holiday simple… help my son make and mail valentines & bake something special.
When I checked out the Kitchen Play February menu, I knew exactly which recipe I would tackle. This month’s sponser is Cherry Marketing Institute, and Julie from The Little Kitchen had a wonderful idea with her cherry mini pockets. I wanted to take her idea and change it up a bit to make a sweet heart shaped pocket for the sweethearts in my life.

My first ever clafouti. Having never had “clah-fooo-tea” before I am unable to tell you how it compares to other clafouti recipes… but I can tell you I loved it. I am definitely a bread pudding, tapioca, rice pudding kind of gal, so I guess its not too surprising that I polished off half the dish on my own.

Celebrating 1 full year of food blogging!

Two years ago I started CakeStudent because I needed a hobby and, well, a food blog just sounded like fun. Turns out it wasn’t much fun… my posts were pretty bad and I had zero visitors. After only a few months, I threw in the towel. The next year, when my domain name was set to expire, I logged into google analytics out of sheer curiosity. Low and behold… I had over 5000 page views! I couldn’t believe it. Turns out my Cat in the Hat cake was bringing in some traffic.
